Intercultural and Bilingual Education Programme: Warrau Language

Voices GY resource teams: IBE teachers and translators

Voices GY's pilot Intercultural and Bilingual Education Programme for Warrau seeks to address a number of important challenges for both migrants and host communities in Guyana. The programme is inspired by similar indigenous IBE programmes in the region, but would be innovative as the first programme of its kind to respond to both a need for indigenous language integration and a humanitarian crisis stemming from migration. Through our IBE programme, we seek to improve school performance, promote, establish and make relevant language and culture, and facilitate the integration of migrant Warao children from Venezuela.
